July 14, 2016 - Getting to Debrecen
Guess this day is not that interesting, all that happened was that I caught a train from Vienna to Debrecen, via Budapest. The train to Budapest was packed, there were hundreds of tourists heading that way, partially due to the Red Bull Air Race. The first leg of the journey went by fast - though not sure why the train needs that long to get to Debrecen - with a few exceptions, we were traveling between 60-80 km/h. Anyhow, the train did make it in time, where I had a nice and pleasant pension (Belvarosi Panzio) booked, with very friendly service. Debrecen was pretty, the cathedral beautifully lit, and even though it was close to midnight, the numerous bars on the streets were lively with youngsters. I made a short tour of the city, and was quite exhausted (mainly from the never-ending rail trip) when I got to my bed at midnight. One thing prevented me from a pleasant sleep - the news of the latest terrorist act of IS, the truck that murdered some 80 people in Nice/Nizza.
Debrecen at night (kind of obvious if you've read the text above...)
