Day 9 – July 4, 2025

Well, this short description is how I had gotten home.

I had to wake up at 5 am, pack my stuff, haul my bike back to the main road and ride to the railway station, where I caught a train to Brenner. From there was a local train to Innsbruck - and five minutes after its arrival a train to Vienna. I was pretty sure the local train would be on time, so I had purchased the bike ticker for the Vienna-bound train.

Wrong. We started with a 2-minute delay and stopped 3-4 times outside the stations, so we arrived with a 4-minute delay to Innsbruck, leaving me just a minute to catch my train. I had to run with my bike, which was still there. Alas, however, the doors had already been closed and with some other poor souls banging on the door, they did not open these and the train left. Just to note. both Levente´s train and my train (which I had to take) were delayed by 10 minutes...so not sure where this hurry way coming from on this service.

Oh, well, the next train was in 2 hours - I went to the ticket counter and they exchanged the bike spot for free - as the delay was their fault. It was just €3.50, but still a nice gesture.

I felt stinky and dirty, after the large push of the previous day, I had not yet cleaned. At an information desk, I was told there are no showers at the station, but that there is a public swimming pool nearby. I rode there, paid €6.50 for entry and took a refreshing shower. I even thought of going for a swim, but there was no time, as I had to catch my train.

With that, I managed to catch my train back to Vienna and arrived after a relatively comfortable journey.
