Day 5

Alas, from this point onward, I have little recollection of what had happened. I did hear some noises at night, though they did not sound threatening, my heart still pounded faster. The darkness was short, the day broke sometime after 4 am. I packed my stuff rather early and started riding on Highway 3 to Haines Junction.

There was a big lake I rode next to, called Dezadeash Lake.

On this second riding day, I made only 100 kilometers, but was still happy to reach “civilization”, a metropolis of 700 inhabitants. I must have dined and gotten something warm, probably a burger or a pizza, all of this remains a mystery, which probably will remain unsolved. If I am not mistaken, I did treat myself to the luxury of a cabin with showers at a place called Bear Creek.
