Day 14
My flight was scheduled to depart only in the afternoon, but now I felt I was done. Back then, it was possible to request to check-in for an earlier flight on the day of the departure, I believe it was $25 or so. So I was at the airport at like 6 am, and managed to check in for a 7:30 flight (let us assume). It is a 3.5 hour flight and noon, I was in Seatac International Airport.
Now my issue was that my car was about 100 miles up north, in Bellingham and we are in the US, with me carrying a large box. How on earth will I get there? There was a courtesy phone, saying to press “0” for bus service. To my utter surprise, there was indeed a bus service from the airport, all the way to the ferry terminal, where my car was parked, it leaving in just 20 minutes. Even if I had planned it, I could not have done it better.
So two weeks after my departure, I was safe and sound back at my car – not having eaten by a grizzly and having wonderful memories of this trip.
I did mention that Highway 9 is one of my favourite roads, so I took that road. I recalled that there was a beautiful campground here, so I decided to check in there. It was a weekday and I was pretty much the only guest. The lawn was wonderfully mowed and there was a pool to cool down. I spread out, showered for like an hour, then fell asleep on the sun. I stayed there for the night, sleeping in my tent.
