Swimming and a Bit of Slacking

Day 8 - August 6

In the morning, I was in no hurry to leave the camping - I took close to an hour to swim around the small island I had pitched my tent on. I left only at 1 pm, so it was not the longest of all my biking trips - could it be I was getting a bit tired? Maybe. I passed through the town of Vrsar, which is quite pretty.

Well, no major highlights that day. I got a haircut in a small shopping mall, then reached the north coast of Istria, at Savudrija. Here I rode right next to a nice hotel (Kempinski) I had stayed with my partner two years earlier, this time a room would have cost over Eur 350 - so I pushed for a campground not far from the hotel, riding on a dirt road.

I had to drop to the coast, then push up to reach the reception -only to be told they were absolutely full and that they would not even take someone with a small tent. Oh well….I managed to find a place not far to pitch my tent in the wilderness next to a path. While there were quite a few joggers and walkers on it, nobody bothered me; either I was hidden well and they did not notice or they noticed but could not care less. Anyhow, it was a pleasant night - no foxes this time.

Here is the approximate map - it was just around 60 km with a few hundred meters of elevation.
