Epilogue

Well, this was my adventure for the summer - it was amazing. When I think back, Corsica is very much vivant in my mind, with its azure waters, ragged mountains with its villages, but, heading backward, so very beautiful was the Ligurian Sea with the coast around Portofino, the beautiful towns in and around Tuscany, the town of Piran...then of course sleeping with the foxes and wolves, watching dolphins jump out of the water - close encounters of the third kind. Swimming in Lido de Venezia and in Istria - meeting the friendly car shop owner who helped me repair my saddle. Alas, my by bike hasn't been turned in yet, but I am still hopeful - apart from that, there was just one brake change and one puncture - not too many mechanical troubles on this trip (compare that to Vietnam or Romania!).

I made the math of the distance covered - it was some 1,820 kilometers in 26 days (five of these without riding) and close to 26,000 meters of altitude gain and loss. (I actually believe it was somewhat more kilometers, as I did not count the distance covered within the cities, riding to and from the train stations, to the stores, etc. - so the true figure is closer to 2,000 km).

I could go on and on about how wonderful it was, but I will stop now. Thanks, if you have read so far - fine if not. My main purpose of writing this blog was to relive the journey one more time - I enjoyed riding it just as much as writing about it. Bye for now!
