Epilogue
It was close to my birthday and my parents prepared a great surprise.
I got tow beautiful books on Georgia - it was so great to see that I had visited most of the highlights the book mentions, As you can see, the cover of both books feature the church at Kazbegi - and the bigger book also displays Batumi.
And here comes my real epilogue - as we know, a picture tells thousand words, but I will have to tell you what is on these three pictures below. It was another surprise present, a Hungarian edition of National Geographic, titled "The 100 Best Places in the World". The editors went to great lengths at presenting great places on our planet and I have to say my bucket list grew substantially. The introduction of many places is just a single photo and a short paragraph. Some special places did get a full page - and only very few, special places a double page. Well, if you have read through my blog, I guess you will not be surprised that Georgia made it to this exclusive Top 100 list, getting not just a single page - but a double page. And which region is displayed here? For me, definitely not a surprise, it is Svaneti...In addition, the back inside cover of the magazine contains one additional picture of Svaneti...
It is not easy to map out such a trip, here is an approximate map of the 3 weeks. As you can see, there were not many unvisited places that I left untouched...Google says the journey was around 2,200 kilometers long -- but then it was a bit more, as I could not map out everything. Here is a link to the map.
That`s all, folks! 😉
