Day 4 - May 9 - Following Csontráry's Trail
I was greeted by wonderful biking weather and I followed nicely pave roads with little traffic. The scenery was really wonderful. I entered the Republic Srpska, similar to my trip of a decade ago. I will the pictures speak for themselves.
Later I reached the town of Jajce, which is crowned by a large caste and there is a scenic waterfall. The Hungarian painter Csontváry loved this place as well (he also painted Mostar in the country).
There I followed a river in a nice valley - with some more traffic, but made good distance.
On the way, I was a red chair, reminding me of the adverttising of the Austrian furniture store, XXL Lutz...
I reached the town of Donji Vakuf, where I stayed at a very nice motel for some 23 Euros, called Orchideja. The staff was very friendly - wish all accommodations were as pleasant as this one - plus a great value for money. A year later, on another Balkan bike ride, I stopped at the same hotel to say hello, one waiter seemed to remember me...
Another 130 km today, about 120 km short of Sarajevo.
