Day 9 - May 14 - Into Kosovo
The morning was not much nicer either - in fact, a huge cloud wrapped me just after I woke up. I dressed up warm (for the first time on this trip) and made the missing two and a half kilometers to the summit at 1,336 meters. There, a very broken down ski paradise was to be (not) seen, well, they are working on it.
It was downhill to Rozaje, a town in the northeast of the country, with some interesting buildings.
From there, a huge climb began, it was really very-very steep, but it eased off somewhat after a while - still, it was over 10km of heavy uphill pedaling . There was snow on the mountains, but also on the side of the road.
One more thing was in the side of the road: litter. It is so sad to see wonderful nature being destroyed by PET bottles and and and and and...
I reached to Montenegran control post just shy of the summit, they let leave the country. Then it was a downhill ride, to the Kosovan entry point. That went quick - it was a lady with perfect English.
At the bottom of the mountain, I treated myself to some kebabs with salad and soft drinks, the entire thing was Eur 5,30 - not bad, eh? Yeah, in Kosovo they use the Euro.
The ride after this was not too much fun. I rode through the town of Peja - to my surprise, I found a motorcycle shop that replaced my worn brakes. There was a large bazaar, but I wanted to move on.
It took quite a while to reach Desan, not an ideal place for cycling. the final destination was Gjakova, where my hotel was a bit outside town, rather many turns to get there. Somewhere around 100 km was my production for that day.
